IPR and Licensing module

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the six themed learning objects, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand copyright and other Intellectual Property Rights and their relationship to the curation and creation of digital content
  2. Understand the roles and responsibilities of staff in dealing with IPR and Licensing issues
  3. Be able to distinguish between the layers of rights
  4. Understand the requirements of user licences (rights in and right out)
  5. Be able to choose relevant copyright licences (rights out)
  6. Apply knowledge gained to be able to develop basic organizational copyright policies and supporting procedures
  7. Apply knowledge gained to be able to develop their own risk strategy
  8. Understand the role of resources supporting copyright, other IPR issues and licensing, such as the SCA IPR and Licensing Toolkit and which tools are suitable for specific scenarios
  9. Understand how other professionals working across the public sector have dealt with the themes discussed in the learning objects and embedded the SCA IPR and Licensing tools into their own licensing frameworks
